Hours: Full-time

Salary: $20.78 per hour Open until filled;

Brief Description of the Job: Plans, coordinates, and supervises the operations and activities of the Haltom City Animal Services Division; oversees the administration and maintenance of the City’s Animal Shelter facility; ensures the proper care of sheltered animals; enforces animal related ordinances and regulations; and supervises assigned personnel. Education, Certifications and Experience Requirements: Associates degree in management or equivalent, and three years supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced Animal Control Officer and Euthanasia Technician certifications are required within twelve months of employment. Certification by the Local Rabies Control Authority is required. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License. Essential Functions: 1. Oversees and coordinates departmental operations including administration, facility maintenance, animal care, and code enforcement. 2. Develops, implements, administers, reviews, and evaluates the Division’s policies and standard operating procedures. 3. Establishes, maintains, and ensures the proper enforcement of all City and State animal control related laws and ordinances. 4. Supervises, trains, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; ensures staff compliance with departmental policies and procedures. 5. Monitors, ensures, and participates in the humane care and treatment of animals housed at the City’s Animal Shelter. 6. Responds to and investigates public complaints pertaining to nuisance animals, cruelty to animals, and/or alleged animal control violations. 7. Oversees the selection and euthanasia of animals in accordance with established animal control policies, ordinances, and regulations. 8. Supervises and coordinates the maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of the Animal Shelter facility. 9. Attends and participates in community relations events; conducts public presentations regarding Animal Services Division operations. 10. Prepares, maintains, and submits a variety of departmental records, reports, and documentation.
