Hello animal friends,

The Friends of Tri-City Animal Shelter is exploring the feasibility of adding a surgical suite, treatment space, and veterinarian to Tri-City Animal Shelter. An important part of that process is learning from those who are already successfully operating with a similar model in place.  We are hoping you will be able to help us in two ways --

1. Allowing us an opportunity to tour your facility and ask some questions about your operations, staffing, what works well and what pitfalls to avoid, etc.

2. Share some data in order to help us develop an accurate and reasonable proposal for our city councils. Specifically, we are looking for this type of information:

  •  Average number of animals served (per month or per year)
  •  Number and type of procedures performed (esp. spay/neuter, but any other  data is helpful)
  •  Operating budget for any veterinary services (pharmacy, surgical supplies,  equipment maintenance, etc.)
  •  Number/type of staff, salary range, contract structure (employee? benefits?  etc.)
  •  Do you outsource any other veterinary services, or is all care provided in  house?  If outsourced -- on average, what do you spend on care provided  outside your shelter?

Anything you are able to share with us would be very helpful. Thank you!
