Local Rabies Control Authority – Rabies Exposure Investigation Course Announcement

This is a free DSHS ACO training event scheduled on June 28, 2016 in Bonham, TX

Animal Control Officers, and Peace Officers Can Earn CE hours for attending the course

If you have not yet attended a DSHS Basic Course, or taken the Basic Course test, this course is an excellent free opportunity to get a head start on studying for the two day Basic course and test. Get ahead of the learning curve, and know how to properly investigate a rabies exposure either to a person or an animal now!

Animal control officers and animal welfare workers, rabies control authorities, law enforcement officials, and others involved in rabies prevention efforts in the Department of State Health Services Region 2/3 are invited to register:

DSHS Region 2/3 Zoonosis Control will host a FREE "Local Rabies Control Authority – Rabies Exposure Investigation Course”.

Presentations will be presented by Zoonosis Control personnel, DSHS Region 2/3 Zoonosis Control Specialist’s, Ron Cornelison, and Nickolas Ferguson.

This course is open to animal control officers, law enforcement officials, animal shelter workers, wildlife rehabilitators, andothers interested in preventing rabies in North Texas.

The course will review the disease of rabies in animals and people, pre- and post-exposure human rabies vaccinations, Texas' rabies laws, and animal rabies specimen submissions.

The intent of the course is to help participants improve their understanding of rabies and the laws that apply to this disease, as well as to improve their case investigation and rabies law enforcement skills.

Continuing Education Credits:

Animal Control Officers who have successfully completed a DSHS ACO Basic test before attending this course will earn 6 continuing education (CE) credit hours towards their mandatory three year, 30 hour CE requirement.                                                                                                                         Law Law enforcement officers may use their course certificate to submit 6 CE hours to TCLEOSE.

Prior registration for the course is required. Registration closes when the training room seating limit is reached.
